CM holds closed door meeting with SUPP, UPP

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem convened a closed
door meeting between SUPP and UPP on Monday for both parties to iron out
their differences in view of the coming state election.
According to UPP secretary-general George Lo, he and other top UPP leaders were summoned by Adenan to have a heart to heart talk with their counterparts from SUPP.
“Yes, both parties had a meeting with the chief minister yesterday (Monday). Our instructions were to keep what was discussed confidential. I am not in the position to reveal what had been discussed.
“UPP is always ready and willing to work out a compromise with SUPP for the sake of Chinese community and for BN. Other than that, I am not in the position to reveal anything else at this juncture,” Lo told The Borneo Post yesterday. The closed meeting took place at the chief minister’s office in Wisma Bapa.
SUPP was led by its president Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian. Other leaders from SUPP included secretary-general Datuk Sebastian Ting, Matthew Chen, Lo Khere Chiang and Tan Joo Pui.
UPP was led by its president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, deputy president Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, George Lo, Datuk Tiong Thai King, Dato Hii King Chiong, Chow Chee Ming and Pemanca Liu Thian Leong.
Traditionally, SUPP is allocated 19 state seats. It is expected to be given an additional seat from the 11 new seats which are expected to be approved by Parliament and endorsed by the Agong before they are gazetted.
The 11 new seats are Serembu, Batu Kitang, Bukit Semuja, Stakan, Gedong, Kabong, Tellian, Selirik, Murum, Samalaju and Mulu.
