MPP asked to expedite Kpg Mambong resettlement

KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has been asked to expedite piling work at the proposed resettlement site for Kampung Mambong villagers.

Assistant Minister of Public Health Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, who is Bengoh assemblyman, said the resettlement for villagers whose houses and land are affected by a clinker project is far overdue and must be resolved without further delay.

“The plans to relocate the residents have been delayed for a number of times and we hope this time there will be no more delay,” he said.

“The Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) housing project to relocate the 20 families can be built only after piling has been done and since the developer (Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad) does not include piling in its job scope, we have to help the villagers to source for funds elsewhere to do the piling.

“We managed to secure RM100,000, which should be enough to do the piling and the money is now parked with MPP and our hope is that the council can expedite the piling work so that the housing project can start within this year,” he stressed to reporters after distributing minor rural projects (MRP) funds yesterday.

Plans to resettle the some 20 families started in the early 90s.
