KUCHING (April 14): The first phase of Kampung Sinar Baru’s community hall project is finally complete and was handed over by the Public Works Department (JKR) yesterday.

Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang who was present during the handover to community leader Ngui Nam Chiew said he is glad that the RM200,000 project is finally finished after falling behind schedule for a few months.

“This RTP (Rural Transformation Project) will benefit 380 villagers from 62 households here,” he said at the hall yesterday.

Lo said another RM200,000 has already been allocated for the second phase which includes the hall expansion, electricity and water supply, and an additional carpark.

He added the area of the project site first had to be filled up, levelled and piled before the construction took place – which is part of the cost.

JKR assistant civil engineer Nurul Syuhadah Jamalee was present.
