SUPP TGM expected to be smooth
KUCHING: The Sarawak United People’s Party’s (SUPP) Triennial General Meeting (TGM) schedule to be held this month will be a smooth one, said Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang.
He was confident that party members would place the party above self-interest as party members were more united than before.
“I can’t tell for sure. Because I’m not the party president. But I am confident that within SUPP, we are all very united.
“We will support our party president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian. All of us will think for the party, and not for ourselves. This is important,” he told reporters when met at the Health Talk and Screening programme at the Indoor Basketball Court, Taman Flora Indah, Jalan Arang yesterday (May 16).
Lo, was asked to comment on whether there would be any keen contests for party’s key positions during the TGM.
He said he did not foresee any problems in the meeting as party members would be behind their party president.
“Even if we do, even if some of us do fight for positions, I believe it will be for the benefit of the party,” he said adding that not only SUPP, but other component parties in Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), must be united too for the common good of all Sarawakians.
“If we want to talk about gaining Sarawak’s rights and resources back and putting Sarawak in a strong political position within Malaysia, I think GPS must be united first.
“And for GPS to be united, SUPP must be united first, together with all the other component parties.”
Meanwhile, the annual Health Talk and Screening programme was organised by the Sungai Maong Methodist Church in collaboration with the Komuniti Rukun Tetangga (KRT) Taman Flora Indah for the nearby residents in Taman Flora Indah and Jalan Arang.
Free health screening was provided such as checking of blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar level.
Also present was Sungai Maong Methodist Church Reverend Timothy Ling.
