KUCHING, Aug 7: Various steps and measures have been taken to ensure that the Kota Sentosa market as well as other markets under MPP’s jurisdiction is safe for the public.

Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang, who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman, disclosed that all traders at the Kota Sentosa market, including the vegetable and food sellers have been tested, and all tests came back negative.

The tests, he said, were conducted on all the traders and hawkers in the market by the Health Department a few days after confirmed Covid-19 cases were recorded in Sentosa Hospital.

“For other markets in MPP’s jurisdiction, we have maintained the highest practice of the SOP (standard operating procedure), such as measuring (body) temperatures and taking their details, not only for the customers, but the hawkers and traders too,” he added.

Lo pointed out the council wants to be cautious but not overly worried either. He gave his assurance that it is perfectly safe and the public may continue to come to the Kota Sentosa market to shop for their needs with good and reasonable prices.

Meanwhile, MPP distributed more than 1,000 flyers about Covid-19 prevention to business premises, including traders and hawkers, under its jurisdiction as part of its Covid-19 public awareness campaign.

“The council started the campaign in 7th Mile areas because of the confirmed cases which occurred in the nearby Sentosa Hospital, and at the same time, to encourage the public to come to the market too,” Lo said when speaking to reporters during the distribution of the Covid-19 SOP flyers to hawkers, traders and business premises in Kota Sentosa, today. — DayakDaily
