Kuching: Four flyovers to be completed next year

Kuching: Four flyovers to be completed next year.

KUCHING (August 4): Work on the constructions of four flyovers at the fourth, sixth, seventh and 10th mile on Jalan Kuching-Serian are all expected to solve the traffic congestion problem here after they are completed in June next year.
Batu Kitang State Assemblyman and Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang today said the flyover at the fourth mile was expected to be the first to be completed and to be opened to traffic in November this year.
‘’We expect the three other flyovers to be completed in June next year. All the flyovers are part of the Pan Borneo Highway package worth RM2.1 billion from Sematan until the 10th mile,’’ he said when visiting the flyover project at the fourth mile here.
He said that, when completed, the four flyovers, ranging from 300 metres to 400 metres long, would be able to smoothen further traffic flow for about 80,000 vehicles in this city as there would not be traffic lights along the stretch.
‘’The completion of this project (at fourth mile) was delayed for about one year. However, the contractor for the project was given an 84-day extension to complete the project under the Movement Control Order (MCO),’’ he said.
