KUCHING, Jan 5: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman, Lo Khere Chiang reminds the public that they should not fill drains for their self-need without permission.

“People must register for permission first before they do so,” Lo said during a visit to inspect the drainage system at Taman Glory Matang this afternoon.

“The flooded area is due to the small culvert in the drain being filled by the public for their self-need,” he added.

Lo disclosed he had instructed Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak to replace the culvert with a bigger one and also to widen the drain.

“If the culvert is big enough, the water flow will be strong and smooth,” Lo pointed out.

He noted that after changing the culvert into a bigger one, the flooding problem will be solved for residents in Taman Glory.

During the visit, the contractor from JKR and also other professionals were at the scene to determine the solution to solve the flooding woes of the residents in the area. — DayakDaily
