KUCHING: Business outlets in Padawan area that are known to be carrying out illegal activities will have their licenses revoked by the council.

Batu Kitang state assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang said these business outlets masquerading themselves by selling topups, stationery or tidbits but are in fact running illegal online gambling activities would see that their licenses withdrawn.

“I heard there are some involved in my area (Padawan) but I would have to ascertain if it is true.

“If it is true, then be prepared to get your license revoked,” warned Lo when met by the reporters at his Chinese New Year open house at Jalan Stapok here today.

Lo commented on the illegal gambling in business outlets after Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Ramli Din said that one of the main targets that police are aiming to crack down on this year include illegal gambling outlets throughout Sarawak.

Recently, Ramli was quoted as saying that his men were conducting checks on these outlets daily and there was a need for them to communicate with the respective councils.

“We will give our full cooperation to the police,” Lo assured.

Among those present at Lo’s Chinese New Year open house were Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar James Masing, Assistant Minister of Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali and Assistant Minister of Infrastructure & Ports Development Datuk Julaihi Narawi.
