Hui Sing safest neighbourhood

Hui Sing safest neighbourhood

KUCHING: Hui Sing Garden is considered the safest neighbourhood in the city here, said Sekama Police Station chief ASP Will Jihem yesterday.
He explained that the joint efforts and cooperation between the local community and the police force had helped made Hui Sing Garden one of the safest residential areas in Kuching.
“The crime rate in the area is under control. Only three crime cases were recorded so far this year, namely one car theft, a snatching case and a house break-in,” said Will.
He revealed that areas such as BDC, 101 and King Centre had recorded an increase in crime activities this year.
“This is due to the development progress in the area which attracts crime,” he explained.
Will added in these three areas, crime prevention activities such as roadblocks, routine patrols and so on would be stepped up.
The Sekama Station Chief was speaking at a crime prevention talk held at the Hui Sing Garden Community Welfare Association at Hui Sing Garden yesterday.

The talk, organised by the Sarawak Community Policing Association and supported by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) from Kuching IPD, Crime Department and Sekama Police Station, aimed to reduce and prevent crime activities in the areas.
Also present was Padawan Municipal Council chairman Lo Khere Chiang.
In his speech, Lo revealed he had been a burglary victim thrice.
He welcomed the talk and hoped it would encourage the residents to work together with the police force to reduce crimes in their neighbourhoods.
Also present were Sarawak Community Policing Association president Datuk Lau Pang Heng and Inspector Wong Shung Ming from the Kuching IPD (Crime Department).
