Senior citizen’s new house

KUCHING: Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang and a number of do-gooders recently banded together to help a senior citizen renovate his dilapidated house at Kampung Kuap, off Mile 10, Jalan Kuching-Serian.
Lo gives a mock key of the house to Hon.

Lo told reporters that it was the Sarawak General Welfare Association that provided the information about Hon and his family.Yesterday, Lo visited the newly renovated house belonging to 76-year-old Hon Kah Fook who lives with his wife and granddaughter.
“It’s the spirit of the local community that I admire. I can’t do much without their support. I am touched that there are people here who are willing to help others who are in need,” he said.
He also hoped that the initiative won’t stop here but can reach more poor people.
“I also praise the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) from Landeh, Mile 10, Jalan Penrissen who gave their time every Sunday to help rebuild ‘uncle’ Hon’s house. The project which started at the end of March took about three months to complete,” he said.
