Hadi Awang should apologise to Sarawakians for blatant comment on ‘roots of corruption’, says Lo
KUCHING, Aug 24: Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang wants PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang to apologise to Sarawakians for the latter’s claims that non-Muslims and non-Bumiputeras are the “roots of corruption” in Malaysia.
Describing Hadi Awang’s statement earlier as “irresponsible and blatant”, Lo said the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) which is now part and parcel of the Federal Constitution, upholds freedom of religion in Sarawak and Sabah.
Lo also suggested that Hadi Awang learn from the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on how to be a good leader.
“Our Sarawak Premier understands and respects all religions and races in the State. In fact all our previous State leaders emphasised respect for all races and religion in Sarawak.
“Hadi should indeed take a leaf out of Abang Jo’s book to learn how to be a good leader where the latter ensures that no one race should suffer under his leadership.
“This is why Sarawak is growing well and prosperous under our Premier,” said Lo in a statement today.
Echoing Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) vice-president Datuk Liwan Lagang’s statement yesterday (Aug 23) on the same issue, Lo said Hadi Awang, who is also Marang MP, should focus more on developing his own and his party’s constituencies.
Liwan had reminded Hadi Awang that PAS-led Kelantan remains one of the poorest states in the country.
“Hadi would do well to take a good look at his own state and see how he could help the people there who are suffering in poverty.
“He should spend time working to upgrade the lives of his people instead of wasting it to spew nonsense and create disharmony among different races,” said Lo. — DayakDaily
