KUCHING, April 19: Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang has allocated a total of RM150,000 for a project to improve the facilities in Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Jalan Arang here.
According to Lo, the project allocation was from his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funds following a request from the school’s headmaster and teachers, as well as the parents of the students.
“The project will include the construction of a sheltered walkway to protect the students from rainy days, building a premix road that will be connected to the school’s hall, as well as building three sides of awning to provide additional shelter in the school drop off area,” said Lo when met by reporters after handing over the project to the contractors at SK Jalan Arang, here today.
He added the project will start on Tuesday (April 20) and is expected to be completed within three months.
Meanwhile, Lo, who is also Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman, said the council has without fail carried out 13 road improvement projects worth RM902,700.36 and 20 drain improvement projects worth RM4,623,707.40 at Jalan Arang area since 2016.
He noted on infrastructure alone, from 2016 to 2021, MPP has implemented a total of 375 projects totaling RM82.8 million, and from that total amount, RM15.2 million is for capital development projects, RM35.8 million for RTP projects, and RM 31.8 million for “Projek Rakyat” (People’s Project).
“The Council will continue to carry out maintenance works as and when the condition of the infrastructure permits us to do so.
“The residents in Arang Road who have benefited from these improvements can attest to the fact that the council has been carrying out its pledges since 2016 and we pledge to continue to do so without fail. Let the above records, numbers and facts speak for themselves,” he said.
At the same time, Lo also conveyed his gratitude to the residents in MPP jurisdiction areas for their genuine complaints, and for alerting him and the council of the issues they faced.
