Batu Kitang rep hopeful EMCO at Kpg Tematu will end on July 12
KUCHING (July 6): Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang is hopeful that the 14-day enhanced movement control order (EMCO) that is being implemented at Kampung Tematu at Jalan Batu Kitang here will end as scheduled on July 12.
“Even though there are seven positive Covid-19 cases so far, others are okay. I hope situation will not get any worse and it will be contained with no need for further EMCO extension.
“We have seen how other villages that were placed under EMCO before this did well and ended their EMCO safely with most residents in good health,” he said today when receiving donation of fresh chicken from the Federation of Chinese Associations of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions at Kampung Tematu’s St John De Brebeuf Catholic Church today.
Lo said he has been going to the village almost every day since it was placed under EMCO a week ago, because many people have been contributing food essentials to the village.
“There have been many contributions from the public, not only from Batu Kitang but from other areas in Kuching.
“Earlier on, the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government has already given food aid to the residents so I feel glad,” he said, while thanking the state leadership and the generous public for their help.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has placed Kampung Tematu under EMCO from June 29 until July 12.
A total of 189 households or about 300 residents are affected.
