Dr Sim: Over 9,000 Sinovac vaccine doses to be given to frontliners aged 60 and below with no comorbidities

KUCHING (Mar 28): The over 9,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine that arrived in Sarawak recently would be given to frontliners with no comorbidities and aged 60 and below, said Local Government and Housing Minister Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

He said that currently, this was the criteria set by the Health Ministry for recipients of the Sinovac vaccine.

“However, we have told the ministry right at the beginning of our preference for the Covid-19 vaccines but the existing policy remains fluid,” he said.

Dr Sim said the state government’s strategy for the time being was to get as many Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses as possible for the public, while being aware of the challenges in storing the vaccine at a temperature of negative 70 degrees Celsius during the transportation into the interior.

“We are also being advised by the Sarawak Covid-19 Vaccine Advisory Group and if there are other types of vaccine becoming available in June or July, the state government will definitely look into it,” he said this during a visit to a Covid-19 vaccination registration counter set up by Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) at a market at seventh mile here today.

Observing the market trend, he opined the supply of vaccines around the globe would start to pick up from April to June before being more widely available staring July.

Dr Sim also remarked it was pertinent for the state to record high vaccination registration rate among the people in the state, as it could act as a bargaining chip for state to demand for more vaccines doses from Putrajaya.

He added the neighbourhood watch committees (KRT) and local councils had been instructed to assist in pushing for a higher vaccination registration rate among the public, either through Mysejahtera app or setting up registration counters.

To achieve herd immunity, Dr Sim stressed 70 per cent of the state population need to be vaccinated, effectively meaning that 99 per cent of those aged 18 and above needed to be inoculated.

“The purpose of vaccination is not individualistic in nature. Once enough people or 70 per cent of the population has been vaccinated, transmission of Covid-19 virus can be stopped and mutations of the coronavirus would be prevented. This is the ultimate aim.”

If the state failed to achieve herd immunity and new variants of Covid-19 virus emerge, Dr Sim warned it might render the vaccine that was injected into one’s body useless in guarding against a mutated virus.

It was reported earlier that 600,000 people in the state had registered for vaccination manually and another 500,000 registered via MySejahtera app, representing about half of the targeted population to be inculcated.

Nonetheless, Dr Sim said the state government was still confident of vaccinating 2.2 million people in the state by August, with the state embarking on its own negotiations with vaccine manufacturing companies, such as Pfizer, to procure more vaccine doses.

For the whole country, Dr Sim said he was of the understanding that 600,000 Sinovac vaccine doses would arrive next month, 3.7 million Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses would arrive for the month of April to June and another 12 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for the period of July to September.

“This is why we are only demanding from the federal government for our fair share of the vaccines and in case they could not afford the volume of vaccine doses that we requested, we has offered them that we can buy the vaccines on our own,” said Dr Sim.

Among those in attendance during the visit to the registration counter was MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang and deputy chairman Dato Ahmad Ibrahim.

KUCHING (Mar 27): An in-depth study is being carried out on Sungai Similajau river basin to allow for an integrated management to develop a water balance system, said Minister of Local Government and Housing Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Dr Sim, who is also Batu Kawah assemblyman, said some of the water issues constantly being experienced in the state ware excessive flows of water resulting in floods or the community facing a dry spell due to inadequate water circulation.

“There is also a need to enhance the monitoring system and the existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) during drought season so that the government is equipped with the latest information to manage the water distributions more systematically,” he said.

Dr Sim said this when officiating a ‘gotong-royong’ programme in conjunction of the World Water Day 2021 celebration at Kampung Rantau Panjang here today.

Aside from the National Water Resources Management programme, Dr Sim said a society-wide approach must be adopted to protect the rivers for the sake of the country’s developments, water supply security and to preserve the ecosystem.

Among those in attendance were Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, political secretary to the Chief Minister, Tan Kai and state Irrigation and Drainage Department director Datu Chok Moi Soon.

（古晋25日讯）教育部副部长拿督马汉顺自去年上任后，首次官访砂拉越，并于昨日前往拜会砂地方政府及房屋部长拿督斯里沈桂贤。

沈桂贤也在个人脸书专页感谢马汉顺此次官访，尤其是与砂华校董事会展开一项良好交流会。

他亦透露，两人相识已久，在他担任卫生部心脏病专科顾问期间，马汉顺也接受心脏病专科培训。他说，当时有超过30名大马心脏专科医生与他一起工作及接受培训。

他说，领袖的成功不是在你有权势时做到多好，而是你为后人所留下的。

与会的还包括砂交通部长拿督李景胜、砂旅游、艺术及文化部助理部长（旅游、艺术及文化）拿督陈超耀、峇都吉当区州议员罗克强、砂首长政治秘书陈开及砂人联党妇女组主席许德婉。

我学识渊博的年轻朋友，来自反对党阵营的江峰年同意我的言论，即巴达旺地区需要更多拨款用于发展及提升设施，不过，他认为不应该斥资6000万令吉兴建新巴达旺市议会大厦，而是把这笔拨款用于基本设施需求，比如提升旧沟渠。

我对拥有真诚及创意想法的年轻人充满敬意。无论如何，若砂拉越需要认同江氏提出的论点，那么我们就不会拥有标志性的建筑，譬如砂立法议会大厦。讽刺的是，尽管江峰年鄙视在政府建筑投入巨额花费，但很显然他不介意使用这座砂立法议会大厦作为其社交媒体的背景照片。

更何况，不仅仅只有巴达旺市议会将拥有新大厦，美里市政局新大厦耗资9200万令吉，而多用途体育中心及涵盖革新枢纽的社区礼堂耗资1500万令吉。西连县行政大楼及会展中心耗资2亿令吉，以及老越行政大厦及警区总部耗资2亿9400万令吉。即使在石角，让石角及古晋游览观光的河滨公园耗资1000万令吉，而德拉甲艾河滨公园计划也耗资1亿2000万令吉。

若根据江氏逻辑，上述各项计划推展时，他应该提出及要求各市议会及单位停止各自计划，将经费用于提升沟渠。若他没这么做，我建议他更公平一些，不要只攻击巴达旺市议会。

我的目的是告诉人们，有许多发展计划正在落实，而6000万令吉其实不足以应对巴达旺辖区提升沟渠及基建设施的需求，这需要整数十亿令吉的拨款预算。

当然，我也希望政府可以为巴达旺市议会提供更多拨款以提升旧沟渠，我已经提出这项要求。我在此补充，联邦政府通过大马道路档案系统（Marris）只拨出每公里道路2万7500令吉的预算，这涵盖道路沟渠、路墩、野草、路面及行人道的维修及保养。实际上，在旧道路铺上75毫米的沥青，市议会在每公里须至少花费40万令吉，若是重建所有沟渠，则是耗资至少数十亿令吉。但我相信政府会关注巴达旺地区提升沟渠及基建设施的需求。

江氏在要求我取消耗资6000万令吉的新巴达旺市议会大厦计划之前，应该要求他在马来亚的希盟老板，撤销耗资63亿令吉的海底隧道工程计划，以及耗资数十亿令吉的第三国产车计划，或是耗资38亿9000万令吉的吉打居林第二机场计划。拥有第三国产车或第二机场，难道比市议会努力辛勤工作，为大众提供更好服务更为重要吗？

关于巴达旺市议会大厦的课题，让我向江氏及大众分享古晋县参议会转型成为巴达旺市议会的历史。

巴达旺市议会于1991年迁入现有的大厦，目前这座大厦已有30年历史，在这段期间，巴达旺市议会从1991年门牌税收入只有500万令吉，到如今收入达3000万令吉，人口也从当初12万5000人增至35万人。

古晋县参议会历史始于1956年，最初办公地点是古晋邮政局对面圆塔建筑，职员只有50人。1962年，古晋县参议会迁入砂督属于自己的建筑单位，然后该地点随后也无法容纳不断增长的职员数量，因此在1991年搬迁至现今的巴达旺大厦。

1996年8月1日，古晋县参议会易名为巴达旺市议会，如今巴达旺市议会有400名职员，涵盖各项税收的总收入为4300万令吉。

巴达旺市议会职员人数、服务及收入仍不断增长，如今是时候拥有全新大厦，以容纳更多职员、提供更全面服务以符合人口增长需求。我们自1956年就不断进步，未来还会持续提供更好的服务，这就是所谓发展，在当今充满挑战的时代与时俱进。

新巴达旺市议会大厦不仅只有行政区，还有供大众需求的设施，比如室内体育馆、社区礼堂、公共图书馆及园艺中心等，让民众进行休闲活动。政府不仅仅考量提升市议会设施的需求，也关注民众的生活素质。

在砂拉越，没人比拥有高瞻远瞩眼光的砂首长拿督巴丁宜阿邦佐哈里能带来更多发展。与此同时，阿邦佐哈里也延续已故前砂首长丕显斯里阿德南沙登的遗志，并采取实际解决水患课题。江氏是否还记得2018年4月25日新砂拉越论坛报刊登的新闻，阿邦佐哈里在砂拉越河综合流域开放计划推展礼上，聆听砂水利灌溉局局长拿督卓梅顺的新闻报导？

阿邦佐哈里当时说，砂拉越河综合流域开放计划是解决城市水患问题非常重要的计划。在此之前，阿德南沙登在位时，向当时拿督斯里纳吉领导的联邦政府协商，成功争取落实庞大治水计划工程，范围涵盖古晋及石角，这些计划以分阶段进行，耗资约80亿令吉。

与此同时，砂拉越河综合流域开放计划也有耗资1亿5000万令吉拨款的短期解决古晋市区水患计划，通过科技技术及雨水管理方案解决古晋水患问题。让人感到庆幸的是，纳吉领导的联邦政府批准这项计划，展现联邦政府与砂政府合作解决水患问题的努力。

但希盟在2018年5月全国大选执政后发生什么事？这些早前批准的防洪治水计划拨款全都被削减，尤其是解决晋汉省9个地区水患问题的1亿5000万令吉治水拨款，此计划处于协商阶段时，被希盟政府在2018年后搁置。更甚的是，如今的反对党更声称当时没有这笔1亿5000万令吉拨款予砂拉越治水。

因为希盟政府导致的拖延，砂拉越河综合流域开放计划须重新启动及设计，目前正在落实中，预计明年完成。很多策略性项目已经展开，防洪治水计划涉及城镇，因此必须有详细规划，包括在排水系统上制图，以便清楚知道排水道在哪里，避免在排水道位置兴建建筑物。砂策划单位正在与砂水利灌溉局合作为排水道制图。

砂地方政府及房屋部长拿督斯里沈桂贤部门属下的砂水利灌溉局正在落实数项计划，包括号子22亿令吉的双溪实芒谷及双溪巴洛防洪运河，以及2000年估计耗资6亿令吉的古晋城市排水道工程。

我们也理解去年砂政府须应对冠病疫情而经历诸多挑战，但砂政府为砂人民提供经济援助之余，未忘记落实发展计划。砂政党联盟一直努力兑现承诺，而不是像反对党那样，向选民谎称会在道路及水沟铺上钻石及金子。

反对党应该庆幸他们是在砂拉越而不是在马来亚，他们不应该嘲笑及贬低当今砂政党联盟政府付出的巨大努力。不管我们来自哪个政治阵营，我们都应该感恩，最重要是团结一致，与其一昧鸡蛋里挑骨头，不如学会感恩，赞扬砂政府所取得的成就。

但是，当砂政府积极落实各项基础设施发展时，民主行动党却诸多要求，丝毫不给予赞扬，而是批评。

砂拉越也需要进步，马来亚不管在基本设施或现代建筑方面都遥遥领先于砂拉越，若有马来亚政党渗透砂政府，我担心他们会优先兴建海底隧道、推行第三国产车计划及兴建第二机场，而不是真正满足砂人民需求。

我希望江氏了解不是每个事情都能像快熟面那样极速完成，别忘记希盟政府在防洪治水工程拖延上扮演巨大角色，使到这项工程将比原定时间更慢完成。但我相信在阿邦佐哈里领导下，这工程最终会顺利落实。

毕竟，我们尊贵的阿邦佐哈里首长已证明他的能耐，为砂拉越从联邦政府争取39亿令吉的销售税，砂政党联盟政府始终注重砂拉越利益，也不向马来亚低头，我们的口号是以砂拉越为优先！

KUCHING, March 18: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang hits out at special assistant to Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen, Michael Kong for targeting MPP when the RM60 million project is only one of many government’s project implemented in Sarawak.

According to Lo, the RM60 million MPP new complex funded by Sarawak government would not only house the council’s administrative offices but also to meet the needs of the general public.

“The new complex will include an indoor sports facility, community hall, an auditorium, a public library equipped with a coffee outlet and more importantly, the new council will have a garden park with both running and cycling tracks for the general public.

“The government is set to improve not only infrastructure but also the quality of life for all Sarawakians who appreciate development,” he said.

Lo said this in response to Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen special assistant Michael Kong’s statement during a press conference held via Zoom session at his office in MPP building in Padawan today.

On March 9, Kong opined the Sarawak government should allocate much needed funds towards improving basic infrastructure and especially to resolve flooding issues in the city rather than giving RM60 million to construct a new complex for MPP.

Lo, who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman, noted apart from MPP, other district municipalities namely Miri, Serian and Lawas municipalities would also have their own new building and facilities which cost millions too.

“Following Kong’s line of logic, he would have to write to all these government authorities and every other authority in every district to stop development and use the funds for drainage. If not, I suggest he plays fair and stop targeting MPP,” added Lo.

Meanwhile, touching on the flooding issues, Lo said the Sarawak River Integrated River Basin Development Project (PLSB) to address flood issues in the city is expected to commence next year.

He said the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has acknowledged the importance of the PLSB to solve the flood woes in the city and has launched the massive drainage system construction in Sarawak, particularly in the area of Kuching and also greater Kuching which involved Batu Kawa and costing approximately RM8 billion.

At the same time, Lo continued, PLSB was also exploring a RM150 million short term solution to the flood problem in Kuching and Samarahan by devising technology plus storm water management system.

“But what happened after Pakatan Harapan (PH) won the election in May, 2018? All these previously approved funding for the flood mitigation projects were either delayed or cut. Because of the delays caused by the PH government, PLSB had to start afresh and design is now in progress and construction can only be expected to commence next year,” he added.

Lo assures the State Planning Authorities (SPA) is working together with Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) in the planning and mapping the city drainage system for flood mitigation purposes.

“DID under the Minister for Local Government and Housing, Dato’ Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian has the following projects in the pipe line and these are the Sg Semongkok flood mitigation canal, the Sg Paroh flood mitigation canal costing RM2.2 billion and the Kuching City urban drainage at RM600 million (Year 2000 figures),” he said. – DayakDaily.

议会警方分头执法 . 违例者不重叠接罚单

（古晋14日讯）砂地方议会从本月起，可向违反防疫标准作业程序的人开出最高1500令吉罚单，引起是否出现与警方双重执法的担忧！

地方议会领导受询时强调，由于地方议会非与警方联合执法，不会出现同个违例者接到两张罚单的情况。

巴达旺市议会主席罗克强本日接受《星洲日报》记者访问时说，过去市议会只能对违法标准作业程序者发出口头或书面警告，无权开出罚单。

“不过，从今年3月开始，在砂地方政府及房屋部授权下，全砂地方议会获下放权力，可向违例者开出最高1500令吉罚单。”

他说，市议会执法人员在执法时，若发现民众不遵守标准作业程序，包括没戴口罩、没用MySejahtera手机应用程式扫描二维码或咖啡店桌子坐太多人，就可开出罚单。

对于民众担忧是否也接到警方罚单，罗克强说，这情况并不可能存在，除非警方也在场执法，但市议会执法人员一般都是单独行动，没警方在场。

他说，除非是可能遇到危险情况，基于安全因素，市议会才会通知警方随同。

市会没权减罚款额

罗克强指出，接到市议会罚单的民众或商家，须在14天内向市议会缴清罚款。同时，市议会并没有权限减低罚款数额。

他强调，市议会执法的原因是要提醒人民遵守标准作业程序，所谓国有国法，家有家规，若没有监督与执法，民众就会对防疫松懈，最终结果是导致冠病疫情失控。

无论如何，他指巴达旺市议会执法人员并非每日展开执法，毕竟该队伍有许多任务，包括处理非法小贩及店屋非法扩建等问题。

黄鸿圣：执法员倾向劝告警示 

黄鸿圣表示，市议会执法绝对不会与警方重叠，毕竟市议会最高只能开出1500令吉。

他说，大致上市议会执法人员倾向于劝告和警告，若遇到比较顽固和冥顽不灵者，只能开罚单以示惩戒。

“我们执法目的出自于控制疫情，将病例减至最低。如今疫苗接种计划已开跑，民众更应与政府配合，遵守标准作业程序，不要破坏前线人员努力。”

黄鸿圣也说，冠病疫情已爆发超过一年，若民众还不知道怎么遵守标准作业程序，这是说不过去的。

KGC: Over 62 per cent senior citizens applied

KUCHING: A total of 197,122 eligible senior citizens in Sarawak have applied for the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC).

Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the figure, recorded as at Feb 28 this year, made up 62.57 per cent of the 315,000 senior citizens in the state.

“The KGC is an initiative by the Sarawak government for the elderly and ageing community of Sarawak. KGC provides countless resources to the elderly community to improve their welfare and well-being,” she said during the launch of KGC’s strategic partner H&L Xtra at Eco Mall in Samariang here.

Fatimah said to date, 201 companies had registered as KGC strategic partners.

On H&L, she said the company had 14 outlets in Kuching, Samarahan, and Serian divisions, adding that KGC holders could become H&L members for free.

She said up to Feb 28 this year, 969 applications for the death compassionate assistance (BIK) had been received from the next-of-kin of KGC holders.

Last year, she said the Welfare Department received 1,864 BIK applications.

“This has brought the total number of BIK applications for last year ,and so far this year, to 2,833,” she added.

The RM3,000 BIK must be applied for by the KGC holder’s next-of-kin within 120 days after the holder’s passing.

Among those present at the event yesterday were Assistant Minister in Chief Minister’s Department (Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali; Assistant Minister of Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis; Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang; and H&L director Bong Fook Kin.

他表示，疫 情爆发期间，不难发现许多假消息窜起，如今就连检测报告都能造假，而这些自私的个体，不仅仅是害了自己，也对社会带来严重的影响。

“试想想，这些人一旦到处走动，相信会将病 毒四处传播！对此我希望各界能严厉杜绝此类行为。“

沈桂贤是今日出席古晋南市市长拿督黄鸿圣午间直播时，如是透露。

此外，巴达旺市议会主席罗克强也于直播间上表示，本身发现，疫 情爆发至今，人民心里的“恐惧“似乎已经逐渐消失。

他称，去年的今天，疫 情开始爆发，当时的砂拉越每个街头几乎都是安静的。

然而，如今的情况似乎已经不复以往，这也是为什么疫 情的数量再次提升。

他对此再次慎重呼吁民众，在保护自己的同时，也务必为身边的亲朋友人着想，共同遏制疫 情再次散播。

KUCHING, March 13: The proposed new entry and exit routes along Jalan Penrissen at the Ee Ann City Commercial area is ready for Federal Government approval, said Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang.

According to Lo, the improvement works for the junction will cost about RM500,000 and it is funded by the Federal government.

“The improvement project’s design plan has also been audited by the Road Safety Auditor as well as the independent checkers consisting of engineers, and it is going to be submitted to the Federal government for approval very soon,” he said when met by reporters during his visit to the project site along Jalan Penrissen today.

He added the proposed upgrading project will help to address the traffic congestion in the area with the inclusion of an exit lane to the existing entry lane into the Ee Ann Commercial area. This suggestion was based on feedback from the local community here. 

Lo was accompanied by Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa branch chairman Wilfred Yap and other members of SUPP, including special assistant to Chong Chieng Jen, Micheal Kon. 

Meanwhile, on Oct 12, 2020, Kong highlighted that the closure of one exit point along Jalan Penrissen has aggravated the traffic condition at the 7th Mile Bazaar after receiving a number of complaints from the community.

Following that, on Oct 14, 2021, Kong also submitted a proposed plan for the consideration of MPP and the Public Works Department (PWD). –DayakDaily.

他表示，疫 情爆发期间，不难发现许多假消息窜起，如今就连检测报告都能造假，而这些自私的个体，不仅仅是害了自己，也对社会带来严重的影响。

“试想想，这些人一旦到处走动，相信会将病 毒四处传播！对此我希望各界能严厉杜绝此类行为。“

此外，巴达旺市议会主席罗克强也于直播间上表示，本身发现，疫 情爆发至今，人民心里的“恐惧“似乎已经逐渐消失。

他称，去年的今天，疫 情开始爆发，当时的砂拉越每个街头几乎都是安静的。

然而，如今的情况似乎已经不复以往，这也是为什么疫 情的数量再次提升。

他对此再次慎重呼吁民众，在保护自己的同时，也务必为身边的亲朋友人着想，共同遏制疫 情再次散播。

KUCHING, March 9: The old and only gazebo shelter at Taman Wawasan recreational park in Jalan Arang here will get a RM150,000 makeover with a bigger shelter that can accommodate light and leisure activities.

Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang emphasised that this project funded through his RM5 million Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) allocation will provide an open space with roof for people to use for leisure activities like group exercise or dancing.

“Initially, the plan was to construct a high roof shade structure over the basketball court but it was put off as residents were not in favour as it would be too noisy with children playing basketball and disturbed the peaceful environment.

“Jalan Arang Community Association chairman Lai (Jun Man) then suggested building a simpler and lower shelter for community to use for leisure activities.

“Now that more and more people are taking time to exercise and take care of their health, children going outside to play, I think this is a much needed upgrade,” he told reporters when visiting the park today.

According to MPP Building Section work superintendant Hartini Ahmad, construction should start before the fasting month and will take about four months to complete.

The other upgrading works on the park include resurfacing concrete footpath, benches, and concrete drains.

Lo, who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman, pointed out that annually, MPP implemented about 200 to 250 small size projects while the bigger and major projects involving roads, drainages and bridges were undertaken by Public Works Department (JKR) and Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Sarawak.

“As an elected representative, I’m happy to be able to go down to the ground, listen to the people and make use of the grant provided by the GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) State government to improve and build projects that benefit the locals.

“Thanks to CM (Chief Minister) Abang Jo (Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg), we are able to implement all these projects,” he said.

With many things to be done, Lo added that they included addressing serious erosion and drainage problems.

He thus encouraged communities to come together to hold ‘gotong-royong’ for projects which will be funded by the State government through RTP.

“I am hoping that we will have more money especially to improve the dilapidated drains in housing areas. Hopefully DID will be able to help construct bigger monsoon drains along Jalan Datuk Amar Kalong Ningkan.

“It is already under the 12MP (12th Malaysia Plan) and I am hoping it will be approved,” he said.

Lo also urged people to raise their problems and give feedback or suggestions to their community leaders like Kapitan, Penghulu as well as associations chairmen and councillors so to bring more projects that would improve and upgrade the living environment. — DayakDaily

Lo: More funds needed to enable improvement of all dilapidated drains in MPP area

KUCHING (March 9): The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) is hoping that the state government could provide more funds to enable the council to improve all the dilapidated drains in its jurisdiction.

Its chairman Lo Khere Chiang said a lot of drains within the MPP jurisdiction need to be improved in order to address flash flood problem during heavy downpour.

“We have a lot of drains to be addressed and I hope we can have more money so we can improve all the dilapidated drains in our area.

“The dilapidated drains are one of the main causes of frequent flash flood in certain areas during heavy downpour,” he told reporters during a project site visit at Taman Wawasan in Jalan Arang here today.

Lo said he had also approached the state Drainage and Irrigation Department to assist MPP to construct a bigger monsoon drain along Jalan Datuk Amar Kalong Ningkan here.

He said the proposal had been made and hoped that the proposed project would be approved in the 12th Malaysia Plan.

He believed the construction of a bigger monsoon drain would mitigate flash flood problem in the area.

The Batu Kitang assemblyman said he would also be using his rural transformation programme (RTP) allocation to resolve some of the serious erosion problems in his constituency.

“I will use my RTP allocation to buy materials and I hope the community can come together and carry out the works through gotong-royong,” he said.

On the community project at Taman Wawasan, Lo said he had approved RM150,000 from his RTP allocation to implement it.

He said the Jalan Arang Community Association had asked that a shaded cemented place be built for the people to do simple exercise.

He said there was an initial proposal to build a shaded basketball court at the open space but upon consultation with local residents, they decided not to pursue with the proposal.

“The local residents are worried that if a shaded basketball court is built there, the noise from the sport activities will disturb their peace.

“Because of that, the proposal was put off. But after the community association chairman came to see me with the new proposal, I approved the funds for the construction of a shade over the cemented space.

“It’s going to be a lower shade, so basketball game cannot be played in the court; it’s only for exercise,” he said.

罗克强：火箭求官心切

（古晋8日讯）砂拉越人民联合党中央助理宣教秘书罗克强表示，行动党与巫统合作，揭露了该党长期来欺骗华社和出卖族群的卑鄙底牌。

也是峇都吉当区州议员的罗克强今日发文告指出，行动党为了争取华社的支持，509先后使用两张欺骗和出卖族群的底牌，第一就是呼吁民族支持敦马哈迪，第二就是通过妖魔手段丑化巫统。

“没有人不知道，行动党过去数十年臭骂马哈迪，甚至形容对方是我国贪腐的始作俑者、独裁者等。后来行动党基于希望通过马哈迪在马来社群的影响力获得选票，竟然可以在一夜间将马哈迪漂白成为救国英雄。”

“行动党砂拉越主席张健仁当时向华社保证，马哈迪已改过自新，呼吁华社投票支持马哈迪。”

“希盟执政，马哈迪二度担任首相，在短短22个月，他从没改变过去的作风和态度，完全没有行动党口中改过自新和救国的存在，这是行动党对华社的第一大骗。”

他继称，巫统数十年是行动党的宿敌政党，行动党妖魔巫统的手段，不亚于当年妖魔马哈迪的程度，行动党也在选举时，通过极度煽动与憎恨手法，达到民众基于憎恨巫统而转向支持行动党。

他声言，可是行动党领袖求官心切，更利用所谓有利人民利益为他们继续追求上位做垫，行动党全国秘书长林冠英刚在今年2月27日表态，如果能获得15%马来票的支持，那么希盟就有机会再次执政。

“结果，林冠英前日就宣布，行动党准备与巫统合作，很明显他是希望能获得巫统的支持，而再次当官，他口中所谓的有利人民全是假的，全是他们要利用这个借口作为迈向当官的通关绿卡。”

“我们不要忘记，林冠英在去年9月26日保证，行动党绝对不与巫统合作。”

“行动党509叫华社憎恨巫统，昨天却表态愿意与巫统合作，这赤裸裸说明，行动党是一个通过欺骗手段，获得选票的欺骗政党。”

罗克强质问，既然林冠英表态行动党将和巫统合作了，那么张健仁又怎么说？砂行动党的态度又是什么？”

他表示，张健仁一路来都是看西马领袖脸色说话，砂行动党多年来也配合中央妖魔巫统，但估计林冠英表态准备与巫统合作后，砂行动党也只能配合静静和及努力协助漂白巫统，毕竟这些年来，砂行动党都是听命于林冠英。

“一旦砂行动党同意中央与巫统合作，那么行动党让巫统进入砂拉越也就毫无阻力了。”

MPP ganti paip HDPE lama di Jalan Cinle, Padawan

KUCHING, 8 Mac: Majlis Perbandaran Padawan (MPP) kini sedang melaksanakan projek pemasangan saluran paip baharu High Density Polyethylene Pipe (HDPE) sepanjang 3.5km di Jalan Cinle, Kota Padawan.

Menurut Pengerusi MPP Lo Khere Chiang, ia dilaksanakan oleh Lembaga Air Kuching (LAK) bagi menukar paip lama jenis ‘galvanished iron’ yang sering mendatangkan masalah kepada penduduk di sekitarnya.

“Projek telahpun bermula dan akan dilaksanakan dalam tempoh empat bulan.

“Ia bakal memberi manfaat kepada lebih 500 keluarga yang tinggal di kawasan ini,” katanya ketika ditemui semasa lawatan ke tapak projek hari ini.

Tambah Lo yang juga Adun Batu Kitang, kos projek ialah RM650,000 dan dijangka siap sepenuhnya pada 31 Mei 2021. — DayakDaily

Dilapidated house gets facelift

KUCHING: A family’s dilapidated home has been renovated with aid from the state Poor Home Improvement Programme and a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

Voon Kui Fah, 79 and her family have been living in the dilapidated house along Jalan Penrissen near here for over 40 years. Before the facelift, the roof of the house was in bad shape and the house was flooded every time it rained.

Batu Kitang assemblyman cum Padawan Municipal Council chairman Lo Khere Chiang who symbolically handed over the improved home to the family in a simple ceremony yesterday said a maximum aid of RM15,000 for each beneficiary was provided under the state programme.

He lauded Batu 10 Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK), an NGO which had chipped in to bring the total amount to RM36,000 .

Lo encouraged all including corporate bodies, NGOs and individuals to collaborate with the government to help the needy in the community.

The improvement project which commenced on Feb 22 was completed yesterday.

On hand to receive the improved home was Voon, who represented her 81-year-old husband currently being treated at Sarawak General Hospital.

7哩治堵5月启用 . 高架桥下辟U转道

一旦7哩高架桥西连至古晋方向的U转道开放后，从西连方向欲进行U转的车辆，不必再等候红绿灯即可U转，将大大舒缓交通拥堵问题。

（古晋3日讯）7哩红绿灯塞车问题严重，巴达旺市议会主席罗克强表示，将加速7哩高架桥底下U转道建设，以舒缓西连至古晋方向的交通问题，预计可在今年5月开放使用。

他今日前往视察7哩红绿灯塞车情况后，召开新闻发布会说，晋连路6哩及10哩红绿灯交通阻塞问题，在经过当局做了适当改善后，交通阻塞情况得以缓和。因此，此次也将想方设法解决7哩红绿灯，尤其是西连至古晋方向的塞车问题。

罗克强指出，一旦7哩高架桥西连至古晋方向的U转道开放后，从西连方向欲进行U转的车辆，不必再等候红绿灯即可U转，将大大舒缓交通拥堵问题。

他强调此举的迫切性，不过由于该高架桥刚完成铺设洋灰工作，部分洋灰还未全干，因此必须等待洋灰沉淀及干透后，方可开放U转道。

他指出，该U转道并非暂时性，而是属于永久性，属于高架桥建设工程的一部分，只不过是要求当局加速开放该U转道，以解民众塞车之苦。
