Council to help Taman Hillview folks resolve OP issue

DIALOGUE SESSION: Lo (standing) pledges to help house owners of Taman Hillview resolve the OP issue.

KUCHING: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) will negotiate with the Taman Hillview developer to address the long-outstanding occupation permit (OP) issue.

MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang said his office could not simply issue OP to the property owners even though they had been waiting for it for the last 10 years.

“We will negotiate with the developer to find the best mechanism to resolve the matter as soon as possible. It is imperative we go by the proper procedures to acquire the OP,” he said during a dialogue session with Taman Hillview residents at Dewan SUPP in Jalan Sungai Tengah Matang yesterday.

Also present was Abang Ahmad Zulkifli Abang Mohd Nerawi, who acted as spokesperson for the affected home owners – who want the OP by the end of the month.

Abang Ahmad said no house buyers would feel secure without the OP.

“Without an OP, we cannot purchase house insurance. What if unwanted incident happens to our properties?”

Zulkifli lamented that the home owners were tired of being kept waiting, stressing: “10 years is enough. We want the OP to be issued the soonest the possible.”
