Padawan Municipal Council will install street lighting at the most needed areas with the RM450, 000 allocation from the state government for the purpose.
Council chairman Lo Khere Chiang said
the council had received several requests for the installation of street
lighting, but could not fulfil all due to limited fund.
“The council has received lots of
requests from villages for the installation of street lighting, but
while we sympathise with them, we just cannot entertain all the requests
due to fund constraint.
“But with the RM450,000 allocation from
the state government, we will install them (street lighting) at the much
needed areas,” Lo told a press conference yesterday.
Lo thanked the state government for the increased allocation from RM100, 000 that the council received previously.
Lo explained that the council could not
install street lighting without the allocation because doing so would
prevent other projects like tar-sealing of roads, drainage works and
grass-cutting from being carried out.
