KUCHING:
Padawan Municipal Council Chairman, Lo Khere Chiang has denied rumours that he
will be replacing Dato Yong Khoon Seng as the Member of Parliament for Stampin.
He also denied rumours that Yong would not be recontesting in the coming parliamentary election.
Lo was interviewed on Sunday evening after attending the “Buy and Win Lucky Draw” contest organized by Ghee Yong Holdings (LKY) Sdn Bhd at Padawan Fair at MJC here.
“I think this is not the right time to discuss who should replace Dato Yong as the most important thing is gaining back the confidence of the voters.
“The person who will be replacing Yong must be a winnable and capable candidate who can perform well in serving the people,” he said.
“I would not say I should be given the chance to stand as there are still many young and capable leaders in the party.
“For the time being, I will work hard for my council and do the best for the people in my area,” Lo added.
He pointed out that Yong had been doing his best to serve the people well over the years and that the voters were very confident with him.
